In an inspiring display of international cooperation and youth empowerment, the American Center for Religious Freedom (ACRF) recently participated in a remarkable gathering of emerging political leaders from around the world.
This event, hosted by Global Ties Arizona (GTAZ), brought together 22 dynamic young politicians from 20 diverse countries, offering a unique platform for cross-cultural dialogue and the exchange of ideas on civic engagement, policy reform, and community initiatives.
The Global Citizens Coffee Circle, held at the picturesque Chandler Museum, marked GTAZ’s final such event of the year. It was part of the U.S. Department of State's prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), specifically under the "Not Too Young to Run" initiative. This program aims to nurture and support young political talents who are actively working to reshape the political landscapes in their respective nations.
Dr. Jannah Scott, CEO of ACRF, was among the distinguished attendees at this landmark event. Reflecting on the experience, Dr. Scott expressed her enthusiasm: "The energy and dedication of these young leaders were truly inspiring. As an organization committed to religious freedom and civic engagement, ACRF sees immense potential in fostering relationships with these emerging international voices."
The event, presented in partnership with the City of Chandler's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Division, provided a rare opportunity for local community members to engage directly with these future global leaders. Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke set an encouraging tone for the day with his opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of local governance and international collaboration.
Throughout the morning, attendees engaged in rich, informal discussions that transcended cultural boundaries. These conversations covered various topics, from local policy-making to global challenges, offering fresh perspectives on shared issues.
"What struck me most was the universal desire among these young leaders to create positive change in their communities," Dr. Scott noted. "Their commitment to civic engagement and policy reform aligns closely with ACRF's mission to promote religious freedom and democratic values."
The event’s success was made possible through the collaborative efforts of several key partners. ACRF extends its gratitude to:
1. Global Ties Arizona, particularly Chairman Barry Wong and CEO Kristen Allen, for their excellent organization and hosting of the event.
2. The City of Chandler and Mayor Kevin Hartke for their support and hospitality.
3. The Chandler Museum for providing a beautiful venue that enhanced the cultural exchange.
4. Mr. Jae Chin, a Chandler community leader, who served as the Refreshments Sponsor.
5. Ms. Michelle Chang, President of the Taiwanese American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Phoenix – North America, who acted as a Supporting Sponsor.
Looking ahead, ACRF is excited about the potential collaborations that may arise from this meeting. Dr. Scott shared, "In the coming months, we plan to establish ongoing relationships with several of these young leaders. We see this as an opportunity not just for continued dialogue but for potential project work that can have a real impact on religious freedom and civic engagement globally."
This event underscores ACRF's commitment to engaging with diverse voices and fostering international cooperation. By connecting with young leaders from around the world, ACRF continues to expand its global perspective and influence in the realm of religious freedom advocacy. As we move forward, ACRF remains dedicated to supporting and collaborating with emerging leaders who share our vision of a world where religious freedom is universally respected and protected. Events like the GTAZ Global Citizens Coffee Circle serve as crucial stepping stones toward this goal, creating bridges of understanding and cooperation across cultures and borders.
Stay tuned to the ACRF blog for updates on our international engagements and the exciting projects that may emerge from these new connections. Together, we can work towards a more inclusive, understanding, and free world for all.
