Dr Scott joins Arizona Center for African American Resources (AZCAAR) in Community Forum with FBI

Writer: ACRFACRF

AZCAAR, a premier civic engagement organization in Arizona, hosted Chief Akil Davis, Special Agent in Charge, FBI Phoenix Field office at the "Building Bridges of Community Trust" forum.

Dr Scott joined key African American faith and community leaders at this event to discuss with Chief Davis the sometimes very difficult journey of building trust with communities that have historically been mistreated, profiled, maligned, and marginalized by some law enforcement officials.

Chief Davis talked about the mission of the FBI to protect and defend the United States against terrorists and foreign intelligence threats, uphold and enforce the United States' criminal laws, and provide leadership and criminal justice services to federal, state, municipal, and international agencies and partners. He also spoke about the Bureau's keen desire to engage communities effectively.

Community leaders held candid conversations with Chief Davis on issues related to police investigations, training for law enforcement officers and citizens, the Bureau's potential to encourage substantive engagement with local law enforcement, and more timely and open communications around critical incidents.

This is the first of many opportunities that AZCAAR has agreed to host under its criminal justice portfolio. Dr Scott was pleased to be part of the gathering and contributed significantly given her background in Homeland Security. Many thanks to AZCAAR President Roy Dawson and Vice President Connie Robinson for hosting a phenomenal event!
