Kazakhstan International School Opens in Astana

ACRF CEO Dr. Jannah Scott joined friends from the National Prayer Breakfast Gathering in Astana, Kazakhstan, to celebrate the opening of the Kazakhstan International School (KIS).

KIS founder, president, and CEO Daniel Gunneselar and wife Sarah, longtime friends of the National Prayer Breakfast movement, hosted over 200 dignitaries, parents, educators, and friends as the new KIS school was opened in the nation's capital. KIS has been operating a school in Almaty for many years, but recently, many government officials requested that a campus be opened in the capital city.

Guests from nearly ten nations, including ambassadors, Supreme Court magistrates, and members of parliament, were in attendance.

The vibrancy of Kazakh culture was on full display at both the school opening and the events surrounding this celebration. The people of Kazakhstan showed great warmth in hospitality to everyone.

Kazakhstan is a majority Muslim nation with a recent history of great tolerance for all religious faiths. Among our delegation were followers of Jesus, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, as well as seekers. Each day brought a new breath of fresh air in learning about the history, resilience, culture, and strength of the Kazakh people.

The highlight of the trip was the visit with all the new friends and the ability to soak in the beautiful landscape of Northern Kazakhstan. We are prayerful that we will be able to return to that part of the world someday soon to continue building relationships and to continue highlighting the beauty of the people and the country.
